Based in louisville, kentucky, "hi my name is amos", is a blog and youtube channel about mental health, body image, and managing life.

giving space

Sitting down to begin this blog feels heavy; the recent attacks in Atlanta are sifting through my mind. There’s no further proof that any body that isn’t white face an exorbitant amount of oppression, fetishization, and (fear of) death.

I’m struggling to find words to spin a lesson together, that isn’t already blatant to see. If the year that has gone by since the murders of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, and the most recent attacks in Atlanta (that killed 6 Asian women), hasn’t spoken to you in a deep way….I am unsure what else you need to see to confirm that racism is still alive and well. There’s a layer of denial that I’m not quite sure how to help you get through.

Talking about oppression and the body, as it pertains to me, feels wildly inappropriate to do this week. I encourage you all to dive a bit deeper, for your own journeys, and I’ll resume regularly scheduled programming in a couple weeks.
